[Hayato will be gifting Kate a wall-mounted music boxing machine that -in Duplicity fashion- will make surprisingly loud moaning noises when a certain combo of hits is landed. Wrapped up with it is a pair of red boxing gloves and a note that reads:]

Kate and Tim haven't known each other for a month, barely over a month, but when she arrives for a shift one day she's going to find a wrapped package on her new workbench. Or rather she'll find it under the bigger item which is a pirate hat with a large white feather.

Inside the gift proper are some thermal long-sleeve tops and a nice scarf to help with the current weather.

The little note just says it's from Tim with a little winky face, the boy not knowing what to say to his new employee.

I am sorry to see you here, but I could never be sorry to have your company. I didn't think we would ever find ourselves in circumstances like this - but as with most things we face, I do think that we will endure. Forgive me any nosiness into your affairs, and do let me know if there's anything I must (or mustn't) do to make things easier for you in the coming year. It's late in the evening when there's a firm knock at Kate's door. No one will be there when she opens it, but there's a small cardboard box in front of her door as if she's received a delivery. Inside the box is what at first appears to be a non-descript standard issue SIN guard baton. On closer inspection, aside from the suspicious smear of blood, there seems to be a button at the base of the handle, almost like a flashlight would have. There's no obvious change when the button is pressed except she'll find she can't phase through anything if she's close to the baton until she presses the button again.

[ooc mod note: Characters are welcome to try and take these apart, but no matter how hard they try to understand how the parts work, none of it will make sense to them.

However, if they tinker enough, they'll find a strange, black goo seep out of random parts. Touching it makes it creep under their fingernails, up their skin and into their eyes. It evaporates after a few minutes, but will leave them dreaming of a black abyss and eyes in a void for two weeks.]

[ Jeanne-Marie's been chewing over this text for a day or two, about who she wanted to message. After some thinking, Kate seemed the best choice. The most likely to know what this was about, and the least likely to annoy her in the process. ]
